While the candidates traded jabs and had disagreements on some issues at the first GOP debate of the 2024 election cycle, they did agree on one thing: abolishing the federal Department of Education.

Candidate Vivek Ramaswamy stated, “Let’s shut down the head of the snake: the Department of Education. Take that $80 billion [and] put it in the hands of parents across this country. This is the civil rights issue of our time.��
